Scott has been a practitioner of community currency since 2009 when he organized a social currency in Fairfield, IA called “HERO Rewards” which was later featured in the feature length documentary film “Money & Life” (2013). He relocated to Ithaca, NY and while consulting with the Ithaca Hours local currency there, attended the 2013 Conference on Complementary Currency Systems in The Hague, where he hosted two panels and connected with the Amsterdam-based Qoin organization.

Scott has since founded Ithacash in order to build on the legacy of the Hours model and serves as Qoin’s US fellow. Scott has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies of Political Economics from the University of Alabama.
